Spyderco Delica 4 Review

A knife is an essential tool for every first responder. Over the years, I have carried various knives as my EDC (Every Day Carry). When I was younger, I would gravitate toward any cheap knife that came my way. As I matured I began to understand the principle of “you get what you pay for”. While I still love a “cheap” knife, I now look to a knife with better options and better steal. One of my first purchases of this type was the Spyderco Delica 4.
The Delica 4 is a well built folder, with a modest blade made of VG-10 stainless steal. The back lock blade lock mechanism is strong and secure in all cutting situations that I have come across. The steal holds an edge quite well and I only have had to hone the edge every few months to keep it razor sharp even when cutting seat belts, cardboard or other materials. The Delica’s design allows for a tip up or tip down carry. This allows for easy access and fast deployment. The “spyder hole” allows for fast, one handed operation of the blade. The handle design and materials never left me lacking in the area of gripe with an aggressive FRN handle.
The price of this knife is one aspect that may scare off some buyers, but I feel it is a worthwhile investment. At the time of this article, the knife is currently available on amazon for ~ $85 in many colors. Personally I rock an orange handled version because it makes the knife easy to find in the dark or in low contrast areas. Give the knife a look...thanks for the read...Live Action...JJ
