Cold temperatures, and low due points are common place throughout a lot of the country right now. It is common for us to see more calls of "gas odors" as the nights get colder and there is less wind. Recently a local gas company had loaded their gas mixing tanks with fresh mercaptan. It is great that they are being proactive to protect their customers, however, soon after this the calls started rolling in of gas odors and gas leaks. Leaks that have been there all along or smell of mercaptan remaining after poor combustion. This kept a couple of the local departments hopping from one address to another for a couple days. A minor annoyance but in the end it is better for the ordorant to be there, than to not. Never be ashamed to call in these odors, it could be the phone call that prevents an explosion. Be safe...live action...JJ
