DJI Osmo 3 Review

Startups are always a pricey investment. As people who are new to YouTube and video production. We decided instead of buying hundreds or thousands of dollars worth of video equipment, we decided to do as many often do. We decided to use the video/photo devices we all carry around with us each day, our smart phones. These hundreds of dollars worth of portable computing often are equipped with better cameras than you can get for a similar price. The only problems we encountered were that the footage was often shaky. I began researching and reading on the subjects of gimbals. This led me to the DJI OSMO as we already have used DJI products (namely a DJI Phantom Advance) and found them reliable and a quality product.

 

The fit and finish of the product was good. When removing it from the box. It was packaged securely, with plastic sheeting protecting the product from scratching. Included in the box, was the gimbals, a tripod base, lanyard, charging cable (usb type-C) , and a caring case for each the accessories and the gimbals. The quick start guide included made for a fast setup and ease of use. Once the app is downloaded from your app store (be it android or ios) the device was easy to link via Bluetooth to the phone. The modes and how to cycle through them does come with a bit of a learning curve but after a little practice was no issue. My favorite feature of this device is the ability for it to track an object or face automatically. This comes in handy when using this to record videos using a tripod. With the phones we are using (an iPhone 6s and Samsung S8) for recording devices, the gimbals ability to shoot with both the primary cameras and selfie cameras make for a great experience and variability in shooting options.

Upon the time of shooting this video, the combo, which we bought, was being sold for 119 dollars on amazon. Weeks after we bought the gimbals, the Osmo 4 came out, but it is priced at 150 dollars.
